You know what? I feel really good about tonight. That statement could totally backfire on me in a few hours, but I do not care. Love that the Blazers know they need to win this game. Love that Brandon is going to be heated after Game 3. Love that the game is on TNT (and KGW) because we have played VERY well on TNT this year (including Brandon's 30 footer to win it in OT against Houston). Love the general vibe I have been getting all day, including finally getting everything I need to get done turned in for Lewis and Clark. I have no doubts that the epic battle will continue, but I am excited and ready to see what our team can bring to the table. Let's go get this thing! Follow along in the comments, if you choose. Game time is 6:00 PM.
Also, remember that I would like most of your final project done by tomorrow, so you can finish it up in class! This means the paper and what you are doing for your creative product! :-)
Here we go! Ending of the Orlando-Philly game coming up, Blazers about to start. On channel 8, we get these keys to the game from Mike Rice:
ReplyDelete47% shooting (that would be nice)
Second chance points (meaning that we would have to rebound better, so I completely agree)
Bench scoring (if this means that Travis Outlaw is going to step up, or that Rudy is going to play more, I agree)
Actually, those are some really good points. Of course, the best one would be: "Score more points that the other team."
I'm excited! Let's go!
Afraid to say anything...
ReplyDeleteOkay. Great start for Portland. Scola is missing that jumper that he hit like 80% of the time last game. Joel just picked up two very quick fouls and is out.
ReplyDelete13-6 Portland. 6:30 in the first.
First break. 6:09 left in the first, 13-9 Portland. So glad to see them come out well.
ReplyDeleteI do not like Ron Artest. That three was sick though. The Blazers played excellent D that possession. However, the only difference so far between this game and the last game is that Houston is missing it's open shots. Let's hope that continues.
Well, that was fun while it lasted. Houston just took the lead. They are running very well, and the Blazers have slowed down. Houston has 4 offensive rebounds and we have 0. Not good. Yao playing and moving well.
ReplyDelete15-13, Rockets. 3:53 left in the quarter.
Give the ball to Brandon Roy.
Terrible. Travis is thinking way too much.
ReplyDeleteBrandon is starting to realize that he is going to have to do it all himself.
Absolutely atrocious defense by Sergio on that last possession, leads to a wide open three for Wafer. What are you doing doubling there? Just terrible.
ReplyDeleteThankfully, Roy hits a big three. We need to play much better. Just gave up 15 points in 4 minutes.
30-22, Houston at the end of one quarter. Something or somebody needs to change this script. I've seen it before.
Wow, fast break points for the Blazers! I almost forgot what that looked like...
ReplyDeleteFouls: Portland, 10. Houston, 3.
Foul shots: Portland, 0. Houston, 7-9.
I wish the Blazers didn't foul so much. And that this was Greg Oden in two years, not Greg Oden in his first year.
ReplyDelete39-31, Houston. 5:54 left in the half. Man, can we put out an all points bulletin for our offense?
Brandon Roy is shooting our first foul shots of the game. With just under 6:00 left in the half. At this rate, we will shoot 5 in the game.
ReplyDeleteJust as I say that, excellent take to the hoop by Brandon. I think he knows what he has to do now. Two more shots.
ReplyDelete50-44, Rockets at the half. I'm fine with that. We are getting 50% less foul shots and 100% more fouls called on us. Hopefully, that will change. I hate to keep harping on fouls, but seriously, if the Blazers are not allowed to play physically against a much larger Rockets team, we will lose this series way faster than anyone wants.
ReplyDeleteGood news is that Brandon is playing very well. Bad news is that we are getting out rebounded 20-16.
As I said above, this seems all too familiar. Let's hope the Blazers can flip the script in the second. At least Joel has 4 more fouls to use...
Dude
ReplyDeleteYour are such a fanatic. I saw your blog last game and you were on there 96% of the time. Cant say nerdy but still wierd. So glad outlaw is scoring again. And by the way are the ref against us or something? Its like they are paid to call fouls on prizbilla and oden. Maybe this what they mean by home court advantage. Cheap advantage more like it.
Looking forward to another 50 comment blog and blazer win.
Abe!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me. Yes, I know it is a lot, but because all of my friends are out of town right now, I can't sit around and tell them all my thoughts, so you guys get the benefit.
Michael Holton had an excellent take on the refs at the half on KGW. Basically, the Blazers have no idea how to effectively defend Yao. I wonder how many total fouls we have when guarding him this series? He has been dominant, even when not scoring that much.
I don't know if we'll make it to 50 comments. Maybe if the Blazers give us something to talk about!
They better or else.
ReplyDeleteHey did you know that Michel Holton's wife subd for my class last year? So cool dude. Plus i saw the resemblense.
Check-in for the keys to the game:
ReplyDeleteShoot 47%: Shooting 47.2%
Bench Scoring: 14-15, Houston.
Second Chance points: Portland 0, Houston 12.
Ouch. Hey, we are in this game though.
Abe,
ReplyDeleteYou saw the resemblance between Michael Holton's wife and him? Did he marry his sister or something?
;-)
Dont know. Maybe. Or it could be that they come from the same family line of African-American decendant. Never know
ReplyDeleteDoug Collins just made a great point about Portland having three non-scorers in the game, with Joel, Nic, and Steve. That's why Travis just came in.
ReplyDeleteBrandon Roy, do work son.
hey so me and mckenzie and morgan just finished our movie and can we show it to the whole class instead of like doing it like the expo thingy we did with the brochures because its pretty funny and we would like to show the whole class
ReplyDeleteHey Scout!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you heard when I said in class, but everyone is doing in front of the class presentations. I am really looking forward to what you guys have to bring in! Remember to be working on your papers individually too! :-)
58-53 Houston, with 5:46 left in the third.
ReplyDeleteThe Blazers are playing much better, but really need to lock down on defense. If we could run the offense through Brandon too, I would appreciate that.
I'm glad that we don't have a huge hole to overcome, but man, would I feel so much better if we clawed back to take the lead at some point before the fourth. Right now it just seems like one big prolonged struggle to get even.
oh ok good cause i thought you said we were doing it like the brochures but good that works out perfectly! and im excited its due on wednesday right?
ReplyDeleteScout,
ReplyDeleteYes, it is Wednesday. Tomorrow's class will be devoted to finishing everything up and writing your explanation papers.
Thanks for checking in!
Wow, just like last game, this is really heating up. The difference is that the Blazers are WAY closer this time. Love the Oden-Aldridge-Outlaw-Fernandez-Roy lineup right now. Come on guys. I want a tie game going into the fourth. 63-61, Houston up with 2:24 left in the third.
ReplyDeleteWow, those were two of the most emphatic blocks I have ever seen from B-Roy.
ReplyDeleteHUGE THREE from Steve Blake! Great hustle Joel!
Oh man. EXCELLENT defense right now. Portland is playing out of its mind. I am jumping up and down yelling. Hard to type...
ReplyDeleteLET'S GO BLAZERS!
YES!
ReplyDeleteBlazers up 70-64! Heading into the fourth!
Just got a call from my brother, jumping up and down. LOVE THIS!
FINISH. Get your fours up!
It is going to be a heavyweight battle to the finish, I get the feeling. Von Wafer for the ridiculously lucky possession corner three. The Blazers can't hang their heads - that was excellent defense. The intensity is there that hasn't been all series.
ReplyDeleteI am excited for Brandon to come back in and close it out.
This game is insane. Back and forth. My palms are sweating, no joke.
ReplyDelete77-73 Blazers, with 7:36 left in the game.
What a game. Houston up 79-77 with 5:52 left. I do not like Luis Scola.
ReplyDeleteBrandon Roy is keeping us in this game by himself. 12-12 from the Free Throw line. Two more coming up.
Wow, I hope we get this win.
28 second chance points for Houston. They are getting ALL of the bounces on the offensive boards, partly because they are much bigger than we are. Artest, Scola, and Battier, I intensely dislike you all.
ReplyDelete85-83 Houston, 2:44 left. B-Roy is balling out of his mind. 31 for him, 13-13 at the line.
Dying here...
ReplyDeleteMr. Fritz,
ReplyDeleteHow about the stellar officiating in this series? Just thought I would say how wonderful I thought that the refs have been. Okay total sarcasm. The refs have been terrible. Yao can do nearly anything he wants because if Joel Or Gregg so much as wink at him, the refs will call any kind of foul that they can think of. The blazers have done a great job of adjusting and not letting the refs control the outcome of the game. Just wanted to throw that out there. Down by 2...lets finish strong!
Zack and anyone else that is watching,
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS RIDICULOUS! Huge stop there, and FINALLY a defensive rebound. This is where superstars are born. Brandon Roy, I'm looking at you.
What a position to be in. Let's take advantage and execute our offense. And not turn it over. That would be nice.
That was complete denial. Not only did Brandon charge, but he got capped by Battier.
ReplyDeleteI said NO turnover. That was a turnover. Now we need missed free throws.
Okay. Down by three with 8.3 seconds left. Who says that Rudy shoots this?
ReplyDeleteNot a good position to be in, still.
I think it would be fair to say that I did not want Travis Outlaw shooting that.
ReplyDeleteCrushing loss.
WHY THE HECK WASN'T RUDY SHOOTING THAT THREE LAST POSSESSION?! So frustrating. The same exact scenario as happened on Friday.
ReplyDeleteFinal score 89-88. Houston is up 3-1 in the series.
ReplyDeleteThat was not a fun way to end the game.
Where to start on breaking down that game? How about not getting any key rebounds there? Houston got seven more offensive rebounds than us, and THIRTEEN more shot attempts.
That was the killer. At least Portland made 100% of its free throws.
The Blazers are now in a win or start the off-season mode, for the next three games. Luckily, we have two of those games at home. I remember an incredible series in 2006 where the Lakers were up 3-1 over the Suns, in rather dramatic fashion. The Suns came back and won the series, by winning two at home and Game 6 on the road.
It can still be done, but man oh man, that was a really tough loss.
so what are the requirements for the paper on the israel, palestine problem
ReplyDeleteRussel,
ReplyDeleteRead your assignment sheet. All the instructions are on there. We will also go over it in class tomorrow.
